Bonifacio Global City, which is located in Taguig city, is considered as the next Makati. From just a huge compound with mostly vacant lots, it is now surrounded by offices, restaurants, bars, and a mall. It is not as congested as Makati yet it is full of life. It has a more relaxed atmosphere and soon, Shangrila will have it’s hotel franchise built. Global City, or usually they call it “The Fort” is just 10 minutes away from Makati.
WHAT TO DO?
Bonifacio Global City is just a small compound so most of the places that you need to go to are just walking distances. If you just want to relax and enjoy the scenery of the place, a good place to hang out is Bonifacio High Street.
It is more of a park and it’s center is a huge lawn where it is ideal for toddlers and kids to walk around. The whole place is rectangular in shape and is usually surrounded by runners and health buffs after office hours. Here, you will see people walking with their dogs while enjoying the view. There are some shops here as well, mostly the high end brands so this is not the place for you to look for a bargain.
If you want to go shopping, you just need to walk a little bit and go to Market Market. This is the only mall as of now but you can buy everything here. If you want to shop for bargain items, they have a “tiangge” inside the mall. They also have a place where you can buy specialty products from different places in the Philippines so there is no need to visit those places just to try their product. The mall however is usually jam-packed so if you are the type who wants to relax and have some coffee and have some peace and quiet, this is not the place to be.
For a taste of Bonifacio Global City’s nightlife, there is the Fort Strip. You can find here the big clubs and bars and you can party the whole night until you see the sun shine. It is just a walking distance from Bonifacio High Street so after grabbing some few bottles in the restobars at High Street, you can just walk and check out the scene at the Fort Strip.
WHERE TO EAT?
Looking for good places to eat is not a problem here since you have plenty of places to choose from all within walking distance. If you want open air and fresh seafoods, wet market style, Market Market has their open food court. For casual and fine dining, a place that you might want to check out is Serendra.
It is in the middle of Bonifacio High Street and Market Market so you wont miss eat. It is a great place where you can just enjoy good food and a nice surrounding. High Street, of course, is another place where you can eat good food and enjoy al fresco dining. If you are looking for Filipino food, then Market Market open food court is where you should be. In High Street, they have Kabisera whose specialty are Filipino foods as well.
WHERE TO STAY?
As of now, I have not seen any hotels in the area yet except for F1 which is a condotel. It is in front of St. Luke’s hospital and you can just walk from there to High Street in a few minutes. There are a lot of condos there so you might want to check in the web for those who are offering their units on a transient basis.
